Historic "Backpacker" Shows at Gallery 101, Fort Lauderdale

Search Google Images with only the generic words: "Modern Art" and this piece by Maverick Artist Victor-Hugo Vaca Jr comes up in the first few pages ranking in the top 1 percentile of over 137 million returns.

From Vaca Jr's Freedom of Speech Series, this historical painting featured in major news outlets tells the story of an ethereal, universal being that sees and represents everyone. Within this piece are the things the artist heard on the day Pope John Paul the Second died. The "Backpacker" has traveled in exhibitions through the U.S. Seeing it in person allows you to witness the scars it has endured. This piece marks Vaca's 10,000th hour of painting as a Fine Artist. The chilling story of "The Backpacker" was featured in a Miami Herald article which ran on the day of the Art Basel Miami Beach V.I.P. Opening Night Exhibition.

As you stare into this painting, ask yourself, "why would anyone go to such great lengths to censor this piece?".

Showing through December 2010 at Gallery 101 in Fort Lauderdale's FAT Village Arts Community. Available by appointment at Victor-Hugo gallery. Offered at $ 150,000
